Uniting to Paint the Borough Red
This June, Wigan Youth Zone is calling on our community to Paint the Borough Red – a month-long campaign designed to raise £8,000 for youth mental health and wellbeing. Whether you’re in Wigan or Leigh, it’s time to go bold, go bright, and get creative for a cause that truly matters.
Why Paint the Borough Red?
Mental health among young people has never been more critical. At Wigan Youth Zone, our Wellbeing offer supports over 5,000 young people every year. We offer more than just a safe space – we offer hope, trusted adults, and life-changing support through one-to-one sessions and youth-led activities.
But we can’t do it alone.
To keep these services affordable and accessible, we rely on the generosity and passion of our community. That’s why Paint the Borough Red exists – each year, it shines a spotlight on a vital area of our work, and this year, it’s all about mental health. Together, we can show young people that their wellbeing matters and that they’re never alone.
How you can get involved
We’re asking schools, businesses, families, and community groups to stand with us. You could:
- Dress head-to-toe in red
- Host a crimson bake sale
- Dye your hair scarlet
- Take on a red-themed sponsored challenge
- Or even brave a bath of baked beans!
There are no rules – just imagination and a big heart.

A message that matters

“This campaign is about more than just fundraising. It’s about sending a powerful, unified message that our community stands together in support of young people’s mental health. By participating in Paint the Borough Red, we show that we care and that our young people’s wellbeing truly matters.”

Every red balloon, every donation, and every splash of creativity helps us make that message loud and clear.
Small Actions, Big Impact
Access to mental health support can be a turning point for many young people. By helping us raise funds, you’re ensuring that a teenager in crisis has somewhere to turn, someone to talk to, and a space to feel seen and safe.
It’s not about how big your fundraiser is – it’s about standing together as a borough that cares
Join us this June
When we unite to Paint the Borough Red, we invest in the future of our young people – and in the strength of our entire community. Together, we can make sure that no young person has to face mental health struggles alone.
