Our activities within Wigan Youth Zone and out in the community have been enjoyed more than half a million times by young people from across Wigan and Leigh.
As one of the largest youth zones in Europe, we’re home to state-of-the-art facilities that young people can’t find anywhere else in one place in the borough, from a climbing wall and radio station to a skate park, gym and dance studio.
With more than twenty activities happening every day on site and across Wigan and Leigh, every young person aged 8 – 19 (up to 25 with additional needs) can find their place at Wigan Youth Zone.
As part of the growing network of OnSide Youth Zones across the country, we take a pioneering place-based approach to meeting the needs of children and young people across Wigan.
Since opening our doors in June 2013, our charity has become a thriving hub of support, opportunity and youth work for those aged 8 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs.
Every day, we set out to demonstrate the power of youth work. Making the most of our purpose-built Youth Zone, with facilities including a gym, music rooms, sports hall, climbing wall, café, arts spaces, dance studio and recreation areas, our dedicated team of youth workers, volunteers and mentors create a fun, welcoming and supportive environment where every member can be themselves, build confidence and discover what they’re capable of.
Sessions every Tuesday & Friday, connecting with young people in Worsley Mesnes through outreach, activities and youth work.
Hundreds of activities, opportunities and ways for young people aged 8–19 to get involved, make friends and discover what they’re capable of.
Junior and Senior sessions every Monday and Thursday, plus P2E, helping young people build skills and take their first steps into work.
Wigan Youth Zone Holiday Club gives children aged 8–12 the chance to fill their holidays with fun, friendship and new experiences, all in a safe and welcoming environment.
Open from 8am to 6pm, our Holiday Club is packed with activities, from sports and games to arts, climbing, cooking and plenty of opportunities to try something new. With breakfast, lunch and snacks included, children can enjoy a full day of activities while parents and carers get on with their day.
Led by our dedicated team, Holiday Club is about more than keeping children busy. It’s about helping them build confidence, make friends, learn new skills and create memories they’ll take home with them
