Brave bosses stepped up to see red for charity
Make your boss see red for charity! As part of Wigan Youth Zone’s annual Paint the Borough Red campaign, a slime-filled spectacle raised awareness, funds, and a few eyebrows – all in support of young people’s mental health.
What do you get when you combine brave bosses, buckets of slime, and a determined community? A fundraising event that’s unforgettable for all the right reasons.
We made bosses from across the borough see red for charity, the challenge brought together local businesses from across Wigan and Leigh to raise money and get messy – all in support of young people’s wellbeing. As part of our wider Paint the Borough Red campaign, the event invited staff to donate and nominate their boss for a public gunging. The result? A day of laughter, chaos and genuine impact.
Why We're PaintING the Borough Red?
Paint the Borough Red is Wigan Youth Zone’s flagship fundraising campaign. Each year, it rallies the local community to wear red, host events, and raise funds to support young people across the borough.
This year, we’re aiming to raise £8,000 to fund our wellbeing project, which offers one-to-one support to help young people feel more connected, confident and cared for. Mental health challenges are on the rise – and we’re committed to making sure no young person in our community ever feels like they have to face things alone.
As a registered charity, Wigan Youth Zone relies on donations and local support to keep these vital services running. Events like Make Your Boss See Red help us continue this work and reach even more young people across Wigan and Leigh.
Thank You to Our Brave Bosses
We’re incredibly grateful to the organisations who took part and helped make this year’s slime event such a success, they really did see red for charity:
3PLogistics, ATTAIN, Brabners, Challenge-trg Recruitment, Clearview Corporate Advisory, Evolve, Express IT Group, GHE Electrical Fire and Security Ltd, Greenmount Projects, Interact Contact Centres, Laltex Group Promotional Merchandise, Lines Henry Insolvency Practitioners, LRM Security, NRB Chartered Accountants, R Banks & Son Funerals Ltd, Team Wigan and Leigh, and Wigan Youth Zone.
A special thank you to Louis at Clearview Corporate Advisory for generously providing the slime booth – it brought the fun (and the mess!) to life.

Help Us Hit Our Target
Although the slime has been washed away, the impact is still unfolding. Every donation helps us reach our £8,000 target and provides essential support to the young people who need it most.
