New Junior Inclusion Club for Children Aged 8-11
At Wigan Youth Zone, we believe every young person deserves to feel included, supported, and free to be themselves. That’s why we’re proud to launch our new junior inclusion club for young people aged 8–11 with additional needs or disabilities.
Thanks to funding from Wigan Council’s Short Breaks programme, we’re introducing our Junior Inclusion Club – a weekly session designed specifically for primary school-aged children who may need extra support in a youth setting.
A Safe, Fun and Supportive Space
From Sunday 11th May, the new Junior Inclusion Club will run every week from 11.30am to 1.30pm. These sessions cost just 50p, with an optional meal for £1.
We want young people to feel confident trying new things, meeting others, and enjoying everything the Youth Zone has to offer. Activities will include art, baking, dance, sport, and music, all adapted to meet the needs of those taking part, and supported by experienced staff.
Learning from What Works
This new offer is inspired by the success of our Senior Inclusion Club, which has already made a meaningful impact on young people and families across Wigan and Leigh. We’ve seen first-hand how consistent, inclusive activities for children can help build confidence, independence and friendships. Now, we want to bring those same benefits to our younger members.

“We’re really looking forward to launching this new club for younger children, especially after seeing how successful our Senior Inclusion Club has been. That programme has already had such a positive impact on families across Wigan and Leigh, and we’re hopeful this new offer will do the same for primary-aged children. It’s all about giving them a safe, supportive space to try new things, build confidence and feel like they belong – and we can’t wait to welcome them in to this new session.”

How to Get Involved
To attend, children must be registered Wigan Youth Zone members and have completed an ‘All About Me’ form, which lets us learn more about their needs and how we can support them best. Both membership and the form can be completed via our website.
Book your child’s place here. (Places are limited and expected to fill quickly.)
