GHE Supports Wigan Youth Zone with Final Phase of LED Conversion, Saving Over £10,000
At Wigan Youth Zone, we remain committed to sustainability and our long‑term Wigan Youth Zone Net Zero goals. Thanks to the support of GHE, we have now completed a full LED lighting conversion. This important upgrade moves us closer to reducing our carbon footprint and cutting energy costs. It also saves our charity more than £10,000 in labour.
A Major Sustainability Step for Wigan Youth Zone
This LED project is a significant part of our sustainability plan. LED lighting uses less energy and reduces emissions. As a result, the entire building is now more efficient and environmentally friendly.

“We would like to thank the team at GHE for everything they do for Wigan Youth Zone. As part of our strategic priorities, we wanted to work towards achieving our goal of Net Zero, and by completing this work we are now firmly on track. We now have LED lighting throughout the entire building.
We couldn’t have done this without GMBusiness Growth Hub for supporting us with £5,000 towards the cost of the lights through the Carbon Reduction Grant.”
GHE’s Ongoing Commitment to Our Community
GHE has supported us for many years, providing ongoing expertise in electrical systems, fire alarms, CCTV, and intruder alarms. Their dedication to our mission makes a significant difference to the young people we serve.
“We love the work Wigan Youth Zone does and everything they stand for as a charity. When we were asked about completing the final phase of the LED conversion, we wanted to support the project and were delighted to carry out the work free of charge for the charity.
We also look after all electrical, fire alarm, CCTV and intruder alarm works at Wigan Youth Zone, and we are incredibly proud to support them.”
How the LED Conversion Supports Wigan Youth Zone’s Net Zero Goals
This LED project contributes directly to our Wigan Youth Zone Net Zero mission by:
- Reducing energy consumption
- Lowering long-term carbon emissions
- Cutting operational costs
- Creating a more sustainable environment for young people

Building a Brighter, Greener Future for Young People
This project is more than a facility upgrade; it’s an investment in the future of our young people, our building, and the wider Wigan community. By embracing sustainable technologies and working with partners who share our values, we’re able to create a brighter, greener, and more cost‑efficient environment for the thousands of young people who rely on our services every year.
On behalf of everyone at Wigan Youth Zone, thank you to GHE and GM Business Growth Hub for helping us take this huge step forward,
