2025 Out, 2026 In at Wigan Youth Zone
Where do you even start to describe the end of 2025 for a youth charity in Wigan? Hands down, it was the perfect finale to the most wonderful year of fundraising at Wigan Youth Zone, one of the borough’s leading youth charities.
We can’t go without mentioning the overwhelming support during our annual Family Christmas Meal, supported by local organisations like ATTAIN Digital and Westwoods. This event embodies the true spirit of Christmas, showing how a youth charity in Wigan can bring the community together to make a real difference.
Whether you donated gifts, food, essential items, or sponsored a bauble on our famous WYZ Christmas tree. THANK YOU! Together, we made a difference to over 250 people across the borough.
Welcome to 2026 – Exciting Plans Ahead
So… 2026, let’s be having you (as we say in Wigan!), we already have so much planned!
And when I say ‘we’, I mean WE. We are thrilled to welcome Gemma Watkin to the WYZ Fundraising team. After years as a youth worker, Gemma blew us away in her interview. Her passion for young people is clear, and she’s already making a huge difference. Expect to see her out and about, networking across the borough, she’ll likely say hello in true WYZ style!
Business Breakfasts and Networking
Our usual Business Breakfasts will return throughout the year. Keep your eyes on your inbox for details of our March event. These breakfasts are a great way for local businesses to connect and support our fundraising efforts.
Charity Ball – 28th March
What better way to kick off 2026 than with a ball? Literally! Our Charity Ball will take place on 28th March, hosted by our friends at the Brick Community Stadium. Tickets are very limited, so let us know if you can join us.
We’re also looking for raffle and auction prizes to help raise vital funds for young people in Wigan. Experiences, vouchers, or event tickets are especially welcome, your support makes a huge difference!
Upcoming Fundraising Highlights
Be a Kid for the Day – 22nd April
You asked for it, Be a Kid for the Day returns! For just 50p entry (the same as a young person), you and your team can climb our wall, have a kickabout, or make art in the studio. It’s a fun, affordable way to experience WYZ and a perfect team-building activity!
Paint the Borough Red – June
June marks WYZ’s birthday with Paint the Borough Red, a month of fundraising fun! Last year, CEOs and MDs faced the slime. This year? Well… let’s just say they’ll need nerves of steel for the challenges ahead! Stay tuned for all the details.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Finally, a huge thank you to every person, business, and community group who supported our fundraising in 2025. It was one of the highlights of my time at WYZ.
We faced challenges, but together, we overcame them. Wigan Youth Zone remains a lifeline for young people across the borough, and with your continued support, we’ll make 2026 even better.
