The Three P’s: Planning, Prepping & Preparing at Wigan Youth Zone
(AKA: Organised Chaos, WYZ Edition)
Spring has officially arrived at Wigan Youth Zone, and with it comes our annual blend of fresh energy, new opportunities, and – of course – organised chaos. As always, this season brings two guarantees:
- We’ve finally finished the last of the Christmas biscuits we kept insisting we wouldn’t touch…
- We’re knee‑deep in what we proudly call The Three P’s: Planning, Prepping, and Preparing.
These three pillars guide everything we do to support young people across Wigan and Leigh, and they’re shaping up to define a very exciting year ahead.
1. Planning for Impact: Our Charity Ball (28th March)
Our annual Wigan Youth Zone Charity Ball is almost here — The Big One. It’s the night where supporters dress up, the room looks effortlessly glamorous, and behind the scenes… well, someone is usually trying to glue something back together.
Our team has been planning every detail:
- Entertainment
- Young people’s performances
- Auction items
- Raffle prizes
- Venue coordination
- Guest experience
This event plays a vital role in raising essential funds for the work we do with young people. We’re incredibly grateful to our generous partners and sponsors for making the evening possible:
Calisen, Fase Group, R Banks and Sons, GHE, B‑Engineering, Amspec, Blenheim Chalcot Management, Attain Digital, Pinnacle Branding, Leisure Tec, Uncle Joe’s, and The Brick Community Stadium.
2. Preparing for the New Financial Year
(It’s Coming Whether We Like It or Not)
April marks the start of our new financial year, and like every dedicated youth charity, we’re preparing with:
- Fresh strategies
- Spreadsheets galore
- Enough meetings to fill the calendar twice over
Our fundraising priorities for the year ahead include:
- Building sustainable, long‑term partnerships
- Engaging both longstanding supporters and new advocates
- Creating innovative, accessible ways for the community to get involved
- Ensuring Wigan Youth Zone continues delivering life‑changing opportunities for young people
Most importantly, we’re focused on guaranteeing that every young person who steps through our doors feels welcomed, supported, inspired – and that the office never runs out of tea bags.
3. Prepping for a Big Year of Community and Collaboration
We’re gearing up for a jam‑packed year filled with:
- Local collaborations
- Community partnerships
- Fundraising events
- New engagement opportunities
Our goal is simple but vital:
To work with brilliant organisations and supporters across Wigan and Leigh to secure the funding needed to keep changing young lives.
If your business or organisation would like to support our work, we’d genuinely love to chat. The kettle is always on — and yes, we always have biscuits.
Looking Ahead: Organised, Optimistic, and Ready
The Three P’s keep us focused, grounded, and ready to take on whatever the year throws at us — from charity balls to last‑minute projects to youth football matches where enthusiasm definitely outweighs accuracy.
One thing is certain:
With your support, 2026 is going to be a big year for Wigan Youth Zone and the young people we serve.
