Wigan Youth Zone is helping to save Christmas.
With many Christmas traditions under review this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Wigan Youth Zone’s support for the most vulnerable young people and families will still go ahead!
Wigan Youth Zone are planning on bringing some Christmas Sparkle to families doors by asking Father Christmas and his elves to help deliver a Christmas decorated truck full of presents and food hampers to families who wouldn’t have the opportunity to celebrate.
The support is only possible through to the generous support of the Wigan and Leigh community. In past years it has become tradition for people across the Wigan Borough to come together as one to donate food, presents and household products to give to the families who need it most. But with coronavirus restrictions in place Wigan Youth Zone is making changes to ensure the Christmas festivities can still go ahead by bringing Father Christmas and their Christmas hampers straight to their doors.
Head of Fundraising Lynsey says:
‘’Christmas at Wigan Youth Zone is always a magical time of year. Usually we would be preparing to welcome hundreds of young people to enjoy festive fun, a warm Christmas dinner, a visit from Santa himself and presents galore.”
“Unfortunately this year we will not be able to celebrate in our usual way, however that won’t stop us making sure young people and their families in Wigan and Leigh who need it the most have the best Christmas possible. We have made it our mission to bring Christmas to them.”
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by our wonderful community already who, like us, are determined to make this Christmas a magical one for our young people. Our fundraising efforts this Christmas, the presents and donations we have received as well as our amazing Christmas raffle, we hope will help us support hundreds of young people this Christmas time and beyond. We would like to say a huge thank you for supporting us, now and always.”
As well as boxing up a Christmas meal, receiving gifts off Santa, and a family hamper, Wigan Youth Zone is hosting a stay-at-home event for the whole family to enjoy. Wigan Youth Zone’s Big Night In will be a festive celebration of all the hard work that goes on at Wigan Youth Zone, including entertainment from talented members, celebrity messages and the revealing of winners for The Big Christmas Raffle. 20th of December from 6pm.
Wigan Youth Zone’s Big Night In and Big Christmas Raffle is open to the public and is the perfect virtual event to get you into the Christmas Spirit.
