Wigan Youth Zone youth football teams will now enjoy training and competitive matches at professional training ground, Christopher Park after the sessions were kindly donated from Wigan Athletic.
Wigan Youth Zone football teams will be accessing the facility, along with Wigan Athletic Academy, following the Latics move to their new home of Euxton Training Park.
All the Youth Zone football team home matches, tournaments and training will be played at the facility throughout the 2016/17 season, allowing members of the youth zone to have a taste of professional football training at a high quality ground here in Wigan.
David Philp, Wigan Youth Zone Football Officer, said:
“We are amazed by the generosity from Wigan Athletic Football Club and Mr Whelan in making Christopher Park training ground available to the WYZ Boys & Girls Football teams.
“The pitches are kept to the highest of standards, there will be not many grass root football teams that will have access to train and play on such amazing facilities – we are extremely thankful for the opportunity.”
The Youth Zone will be hosting an open day at the venue on Friday 26 August, for any football players aged 6 – 8 who would like to play football competitively or fancy joining the team and learning some skills. The open days will be available every single month at Christopher Park.
Any young people aged 6 – 8 who wish to attend the open session, come along to Christopher Park Training Park on 26 August 5pm – 6:30pm. To book onto the session or find out more, contact Wigan Youth Zone and speak to the Football Team on 01942 612 061.
