Whats On?
FUNDED PROJECTS
Grants from charitable trusts and foundations provide vital support for our work and we are always looking to build lasting relationships with organisations that share our vision for young people.
Thanks to the following Trusts, Foundations and Lottery supporters who are currently funding targeted work with young people at the Youth Zone:
Arts Council England are funding an outreach initiative aimed at increasing engagement from young people across the Borough. With their support we are working with local schools, opening an in-house art gallery, using sessional artists and offering Arts Awards to participants. The project will develop a young curators group and over 2016 and 2017 will generate a number of public exhibitions at the Youth Zone, providing a platform for talented young people to grow their artistic identities.
Our partnership with The Deal for Communities and Garfield Weston Foundation is providing a mentoring service for vulnerable young people. This funding enables us to offer young people extra support on a weekly basis and will allow us to invest in volunteer training for local mentors.
AO Smile and Accenture Foundation UK currently support our 8 week free Get a Job Course, helping young people who are struggling to get in to work or education and enabling them to make their next steps. The course includes CV work, interview preparation and work placements with local employers.
Big Lottery Fund and St James’s Place Foundation are helping local disabled young people to take part in more sporting activities. Through our A Level Playing Field grant we are inviting those who don’t traditionally take part in sport the opportunity to get involved in inclusive activities such as football, badminton, basketball, climbing, dancing and creative activities to increase their experience of independence.
