Wigan’s Reet Good Festival is back for Summer 2019
The 4-day Reet Good Festival is back for 2019! It promises to be the best yet, an even bigger family event with an expanded gin bar and the return of fantastic musical talent – all in aid of us here at Wigan Youth Zone.
After record numbers attended the 2018 festival, we are delighted to confirm its return for Summer 2019! The Reet Good Festival 2019 will take place at the usual site in the centre of Wigan: Mesnes Field, off New Market Street and behind Wigan Youth Zone.
The dates for the event this year are confirmed as Thursday 20th – Sunday 23rd June, and all funds raised will go towards the life-changing work we do here at Wigan Youth Zone.
As with previous years, the Reet Good Festival will offer a huge selection of bitters, ales and ciders. This year will also herald the return of the Gin Bar, which will be extended for 2019 with a wider selection of gins and mixers than ever before.
Entertainment will once again be the focus of the Reet Good Festival, with some amazing acts confirmed for every day of the festival, supported by Wigan Pier Promotions.
The first night of the festival will be all about the 80’s! We will be welcoming special guests for the opening session on Thursday 20th June, with a huge night of the decade’s classic hits. Ultimate 40, a big nine-piece UB40 tribute band, will headline on Friday 21st along with rhythm & blues act, The Blues Engine.
The amazing entertainment continues on the Saturday with the return of the Bavarian Afternoon, including a live umpah band from 12pm – 6pm. This will be followed by a separate evening session jam-packed with motown and soul music, including performances from tribute act The Sapphires – filling the marquee with floor-fillers from the likes of Diana Ross & The Supremes and Martha & The Vandellas.
Also on Saturday, the festival will showcase a fantastic performance from popular Lionel Ritchie tribute act, Hamilton Brown – returning to the Reet Good Festival after playing the opening festival in 2015.
The Reet Good event isn’t just for adults though, and the Sunday of the festival will be dedicated to families, offering free entry to senior citizens and all those aged 16 and under. The day will consist of a massive range of activities, bouncy castles and entertainment courtesy of our Youth Work team here at Wigan Youth Zone.
The Sunday of the festival will also welcome a rousing performance from the Pemberton Old DW Brass Band, a historic and formidable band whose history dates back to around 1877! The band has enjoyed national success and awards aplenty over its long and illustrious career.
