The Wigan Youth Zone’s Annual Ball has been hailed a huge success, raising almost £64,000 for the Youth Charity.
Almost 300 people attended the glitzy event, which was held at The DW Stadium on Saturday 26th November to raise funds for Wigan Youth Zone (WYZ).
The fundraising dinner showcased an evening of Las Vegas-themed entertainment including Vegas showgirls, casino tables and a headline performance from Broadway legend Louis Hoover and the Hollywood Orchestra.
Those attending the event were treated to champagne reception, four-course dinner and took part in the charity auction with luxury prizes including private jet package for 6, Rolex and Tag Heuer Watches, along with many other elegant lots.
Wigan Youth Zone members also celebrated Founder Patron, Dave Whelan’s 80th Birthday with a special, one-off ‘Around Wigan in 80 Years’ showcase, performed by WYZ performing arts students on the night. The showcase included scenes representing different eras in Wigan’s history, the kids sang songs from George Formby, danced to northern soul and re-enacted some Mr Whelan’s career highlights.
Young people from the Youth Zone also presented Mr Whelan with a bespoke photobook designed by the team, complete with letters written by the young people of Wigan Youth Zone thanking Mr Whelan for his donation to Wigan’s youth.
John Harker MBE, General Manager at Wigan Youth Zone, said:
“We are extremely pleased with the amount raised at this year’s Annual Ball, the night was greatly received by all those who attended and we’d like to thank our event sponsors, volunteers and staff that helped make the event such a roaring success.”
