Tania Da Silva (Taz), Volunteer
Since starting, back in May 2013, Taz has been involved in virtually every area of Wigan Youth Zone, from tuck shop to outreach, and has always been willing to jump on board and help whenever and wherever needed. From the start she has been a great asset to the team but in recent months grown from strength to strength.
Involved in the planning and running of many trips and activities; it is safe to say that Taz has enabled more young people to access opportunities that without her, may not have been possible.
When Taz was asked why she enjoys being a volunteer her answer was:
“As a volunteer, I am able to help young people reach their full potential and shape them into incredible young adults.”
Taz has become a volunteer who we can rely on to run an area with confidence and great ability. The young people respect her as a mentor and as a role model.
In the last 12 months Taz has taken the opportunity to develop further as a youth worker by signing up to a starting a Youth Work degree and has recently been awarded ‘Special Recognition’ at the Wigan Youth Zone Volunteer Celebration for all she has done and achieved.
